Yosemite elopement at sunrise

Trekking to Yosemite National Park for a winter sunrise elopement sounded like a great idea months ago, when Tanya contacted me for her February wedding to Dan. It turns out that it wasn’t as straightforward as just driving into the park, like I’ve done for past Yosemite weddings! I’ve never had to put snow chains on my car tires, so that was a new one for me (and for my boyfriend). It was quite the last-minute adventure to Fresno, trying to track down a store that was both open past midnight and carried tire chains (I never thought I’d say this, but thank goodness for Wal-Mart).

But to be there in the early morning quiet with Tanya and Daniel, as their only witness (other than their officiant) — there are no words that accurately describe the honor and the swell of emotion I felt as their Yosemite elopement photographer, bundled up in my winter coat with a camera in my hands.

Here are the photos from Tanya and Dan’s Yosemite elopement on a cold but beautiful winter morning.
