Cassandra and Jacob chose simplicity. No guests and no big production; it was just the two of them at the Santa Barbara Courthouse on a quiet spring afternoon. It happened to rain, and they didn’t mind.
We met at the Hall of Records, and I served as their witness. A county clerk served as their officiant.
The rain added a calm, reflective energy to the day. The gardens were nearly empty. The usually busy courtyard felt still. I’d brought a clear umbrella for photo ops, just in case, but we didn’t need it. There was no timeline to follow, no one waiting on them. The couple had plenty of space to be present and take it all in.
Cassandra wore a strapless ivory dress with a short train and carried a petite bouquet of white blooms. Jacob kept it classy in an olive green suit and a matching boutonniere.
What stood out most wasn’t a big moment or grand gesture. It was how steady and grounded the whole day felt, and how comfortable and joyful Cassandra and Jacob felt together. This couple knew what they wanted and created a day that reflected that.
