Colony 29 wedding in Palm Springs

Dara and Chad reached out to us to photograph their wedding after loving Ryan and Liz’s Korakia wedding from a few years ago! They selected Colony 29 in Palm Springs as their ceremony and reception location, and we loved getting to spend the day with these two and their wonderful families.

The couple first met on Bumble, and their first date was at a wine bar down the street from Chad’s apartment and Dara’s office (which were coincidentally right across the street from each other!). On the third date, after her second old fashioned cocktail, Dara decided to ask lots and lots of questions about pretty much every corner of Chad’s psyche. By the end of the night, they knew significantly more about each other than one might expect after three dates. They’ve dubbed this move “Truth or Dara.” Chad proposed in Spain (amazing) on a sunset hike to the top of a mountain, overlooking the city and with a view of the Alhambra (even MORE amazing!).

When I asked them their favorite things about their partner, Dara and Chad both cited each other’s empathy, sense of humor, and adventurous spirit. These two are so in-sync and were almost immediately comfortable in front of my camera on their wedding day; their fondness of the other’s presence was the perfect distraction for their self-proclaimed photo awkwardness (seriously, about 99% of our couples say they are awkward in front of the camera, but as soon as we tell them to snuggle each other, discomfort melts away. It’s the BEST!).

Dara is a graphic designer and did the invitations and signage herself (LOVE). Her designs set the tone for the whole day with pops of coral and mellow, modern tropical vibes. She also designed playing cards for guests to take home as favors (featuring the couple’s dog, Otis, on the joker card!). There were SO many details that made us swoon, from the bride’s Dan Jones gown, to Chad’s floral tie, to textural blooms by Going Steady Studios.
