Hartley Botanica wedding in Somis

As seen on BRIDES

James and Megan’s Hartley Botanica wedding in Somis was a gorgeous autumn celebration designed by Jaime of Wild Heart Events. The couple opted for moody jewel tones and lush florals from Native Poppy; the modern bohemian vibe made for an October fete unlike any other Hartley Botanica wedding we’ve seen!

Megan describes their love story perfectly herself (she is a copywriter, after all!), so I’m going to let her take it from here…

“As is the millennial tradition, [James and I] met through a dating app. I’m not sure, to this day, if it was a mistake on my part or a glitch in the app, but I thought I was only looking at men within four miles of me in east Los Angeles; I’d set it up as such to avoid the “long distance” possibility of sitting in 45+ minutes of traffic to get to a dude. However, after chatting with James for a while, I realized he was about 10 miles away in Santa Monica. Either way, the best mistake of my life.”

The couple got engaged mid-pandemic at home; James hadn’t been planning on that precise moment to pop the question, but it felt right, so he ran upstairs to get the ring and asked Megan to sit on the couch with him. She knew it was coming, as they’d already been talking marriage and looking at rings. Megan says, “it was a sweet proposal and it was a ring I’d really wanted. I cried (I’m a big crier) and we just spent the rest of the evening lounging with the cats. We drove up the coast and took some pictures overlooking the ocean the next day. We basked for a bit and then made all the calls and such on Sunday evening; most people still don’t know we got engaged a full 48 hours before the calls.”

This pair loves Disneyland, their two sweet kitties, traveling (especially explore every inch of their home state of California!), visiting their favorite Los Feliz restaurants, and, of course, each other.

For their big day, Megan chose a stunner from Grace Loves Lace and paired it with a cape for the ceremony, then a beaded collar for the reception (serious swoon!). James didn’t slack on the fashion, either, donning all black with bold gold accessories. Honestly, Jaime and I were so smitten with his look, we made the game-time decision to skip the boutonniere. It would’ve just interfered with his vibe.

Without further ado, just a few highlights from their spectacular wedding day.

Megan and James, LOVE YOU. Mean it.
