Bougainvillea wedding decor

I cannot get enough of the bougainvillea that I seem to notice in every nook and cranny around Ventura. Its colors are vibrant, and its texture looks almost velvety on the fullest of the plants on the side of the road.

Anyway. All of this is to do a little throwback Thursday to this shoot (almost a year ago!) with Stella Bloom DesignsCrystal HuberPottery BarnJoelle Charming, and MJB Cakes.

Amy’s vision for this beachy shoot was to take advantage of Ventura’s beautiful coastal views while staying away from the typical “beach theme” — the result was a bright yet elegant tablescape that invites you to cozy up with a cocktail and enjoy the view. The pillow seating gave the low table even more of an intimate vibe, and pillows from Pottery Barn were a perfect touch to create an inviting, cozy area for guests to relax.

We wanted everything to echo the neutral tones of the coastal landscape except for the pop of the vibrant bougainvillea flowers (which Amy and I gathered the night before while it poured rain! Just a little behind-the-scenes visual for you).  :)

These photos were also featured on 100 Layer Cake and Pottery Barn’s wedding blog.
